Eragon has become the #1 film internationally knocking Casino Royale out of top spot taking in over $30 million in it’s opening weekend. Solid numbers. So the studio exec are all really happy right? Right? Well… maybe
Despite it’s strong opening in international markets, Eragon failed to meet it’s expectations here at home (North America) only coming in second in it’s opening weekend with just over $23 million. When I say it failed to meet its expectations, I mean their initial expectations. I know for a fact they were looking at a $50+ opening weekend for this film when it was in production… but that number came WAY down when polling the publics reactions to the trailer and anticipation for the film.
Still, this movie will make it’s money back… too bad it was such a bad film.

The fact of the matter, the audience that seems to enjoy this movie, (at least in my area) are roughly 10 year olds who’s parents will not take them to see it till after Christmas.
I’m not trying to offend anyone, that’s just how it is my my area. I myself do not plan to see the movie for it is not my type of movie.
Again, Im not trying to offend anyone, that’s just how it is in my area.

After the reviews started coming in last week (not just from critics, but from fan/geeks as well), I’m surprised it even made $23 million.
…but who the hell thought that The Pursuit of Happyness would be #1 with $28 million (I think that’s the correct figure, I might be wrong though).
Now THAT was a big surprise!

I saw bits of Eragon as I was ”working”’ and I really was not impressed at what I saw. The kid annoys me for some reason as the Dragons voice. I dunno thats just me, I don’t know if anyone thinks the same.

Really enjoyed this movie.
not in the same class as LOTR, but still was fun little flick.
every one in our little group loved it.
going to see it again with the kids in a few days.
the dragon fight at the end is pretty awsome!!!
hope this does well enough to make the other two.

Well I was all excited about seeing the movie cause the book was great… but they did not keep to the story line and didnt make it long enough. If the Lords of the Ring can take 3 hours, this one should have as well. The movie sucked big time compared to the books. Most of the characters did not match the books description, nor did the chronicle of events happen as they did in the book. Its seemed like the people who made the movie didnt even read the book.
Unless they plan on sticking to the book in the next one, that movie will cost the investors big time.

I read the bok and heard of the movie hitting the big screen and was waiting eagerly for it. I saw the movie as a huge disapointment. It book was lacking in a few areas and was a rip-off of other books that much is clear. But hey it was written by a 17 year old. The movie could have corrected many of the mistakes but instead it was if the director wanted people to hate the story much more. For special effects, flashy color and fast moving scenes there was an abundance. Now, if they added an hour to the length and added some deapth it would have been insanely better. Now, movies typically leave out portions of books for the sake of movie time but are able to use visual cues to make up for it, this one did no such thing.
Left out of the movie: Most of the training that Eragon went through both magically and sword playwise
2-3 of the cites that they went through that were developmental in his knowledge
there were no dwarves
the elves didn’t even have pointy ears
the magnificant dwarven city that was talked about extensively (no dwarves to build it)
the twins (if you read the book you know why their emportant)
the trials of Eragon
the treck across the desert (no coma for little elf girl)
much of saphira growing up and how Eragon hid and trained her
the introduction to the religion in the book trying to find the assasins which died in the movie way to easily for powerfull characters
Many of the characters were excluded (the cat…)
2/3’s of the book was about the training he went through and none of it was in the movie.
I could go on for ever for stuff that they left out but I think you get the point.

that movie was a waste of time, i just want to know what the hell was Christopher Paolini thinking when he let the director make a complete travesty of a great book, make me mad, it does, i mean look at LOTR, each one was about 2 hours long at least, and this wasnt even an a 45 minutes long.

*sighs dramatically* Well, what can I say. That movie is the source of all my @#$%$ problems. Ok that was a bit much, but yeah. I was really looking forward to seeing what these ra’zacs would look like in the movie, cuz in the book they sounded cool, but instead they turned out to be these bug things that are not at all hard to kill, and then theres Durza, flying around on his flying black thingy (what the hell…) and being wimpy to the point where it made me want to bitch-slap him and steal his Versace purse (full of crack). In the book, he was a force to be reckoned with, but in the movie he pokes people to death!! AARRGH! Then thre is Eragon…the actor has no talent(enough said) Oh lookit me my mentor is dying but Ive still got a big ass grin on my face! …Im bored, im gonna go kill a shade!…because im bored. Yeah, that was basically it. Plus it as only, what? an hour 45? yeesh! They didn’t even read the book, I bet…
This rant is over…for now.
The time will come again when Liz will rise from the dead to infest the world with hatred ,death and fashion advice, but until then…farewell puny mortals!

The book was AMAZING and yet the movie SUCKED. I was expecting it to be much better. I disliked Brom, in the movie, because i imagined him older looking sort of like Dumbledoor (in harry potter). And the Ra’zac, turned out to be dark bug things? instead of “Bird-like ” creaturs with wings. That was a disapointment for me. Also they skipped the part with Angela and Solembum! ARGH, welll i know that maybe they couldnt fit EVERYTHING into the movie, but it seems like they just read the first chapter of Eldest, and turned it into The MOVIE Eragon. Durza didnt even look scary, and i guess he lost his pointed teeth. And the scene with dead Garrow, there werent any burns from the oil and it also looked like that someone just sprinkled wood on him (what happend to the beam??)
Anyways, overall i disliked this movie. [btw, i put in a fake email. TeeHee =) ]

My complaint: What the frick were they thinking when they wrote the script? One, it was bad. Two, they cut to much of the book out. And three, it includes one of the worst lines ever, “I’m the rider and I say we go.” Whoever wrote this needs to quit their job, or get lessons.
