Pierce Brosnan A Spy Again In Spy vs Stu

I really enjoyed Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. He had all the style for the part, and I wouldn’t have minded seeing him on for one more Bond film, but in all reality, he had done 4 Bond films, and it was just time to inject new blood into the franchise, and time for him personally to move on to other projects. But even though he’s not 007 anymore, he can’t seem to get away from the “spy type” characters (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).

After his nothing short of BRILLIANT performance in “The Matador“, it looks like he ready to take on the spy personna yet again. This time (like in Matador) it’ll be a comedic role in the film “Spy Vs. Stu”. Yahoo news gives us this:

The former James Bond is going back to the spy world, signing on to star in “Spy vs. Stu,” a comedy for New Line Cinema. Brosnan also will produce the movie.

The comedy centers on Stu, a commitment-phobe who plans to propose to his girlfriend during an island vacation. Unbeknownst to him, a handsome, debonair spy (Brosnan) is on the other end of the island, having just finished saving the world. When the bored spy takes a serious liking to Stu’s girl, Stu is forced to compete with the ultrasuave superspy in order to win the heart of his true love.

Sounds like a bit of a cross between Bond and Honeymoon in Vegas, but after seeing Brosnan play the comedic serious guy in Matador, I’m up for seeing him try it again.

Brosnan in The Tailor of Panama was brilliant.

I would have liked to see him as Bond one more time, but with them injecting new blood into the franchise by getting rid of everyone else. I liked his suave Bond but not the ultra slick, MTV style production.
