Evan Almighty Trailer

The first Evan Almighty trailer has hit the web, and man it looks better than I thought it would. Bruce Almighty ended up being quite a pleasant surprise, both in terms of the enjoyment factor and the box office success, but I never really thought it lent itself to a sequel. But I guess is you switch main characters, it’s not really a sequel (Ahem, Speed 2).

The idea of Steve Carrell having to build an Ark totally won me over since the first time I heard about the project over a year ago. Steve Carrell was in the first film as Evan Baxter, and his short screen time practically stole the show from Jim Carrey (He did the same thing in Anchorman) so re-building the brand around him is a safe bet. I loved the Evan character.

Anyway, to take a peak at the new Evan Almighty trailer you can just go here. (thanks to Chisox for the heads up)

“Bruce Almighty” was the first time I saw Carrell or had even heard of him, and I was immediately impressed. You’re absolutely right that he outstaged Carrey. The film itself I had mixed feelings about: it had a number of very funny scenes, but I really didn’t care for the story. Centering the sequel around Carrell’s character instead of Carrey’s sounds like a great idea to me. I’d felt that Carrell’s character got a bum rap in the first film, anyway.
