  1. I’m with Bruxy and “Ash” – I’ve gotten interested in movies and shows (Batttlestar Gallactica) based on your recommendations and enthusiasm.

Being an old geezer, I’ve started to differentiate between Best and Favorites when it comes to lists. I agree that Daniel Craig may be the best Bond ever. But Sean Connery will always be my favorite.

  2. I would totally fucking listen to a BSG podcast!! that show is fracking awesome!!!

Actually I live in Toronto, if you do a BSG Podcast I wanna be on it!!! is there some kind of application I can fill out?!

    Nord

  3. Those Paris building jumpers were used for Bonds stunts. I forget what they are called. Its a new extreme sport over there.

I hope we see Spectre in the next Bond.

  4. they are similar things you have said in the past campea thats why I bring them up – Your comments come across that the artists (if tucker can be called that) should just do what the studios say.m aybe I have misinterpreted them but that is how it sounded to me. I only brought up the tucker situation because he is someone else you have claimed has try to hold a studio to ransom…..

and you brought halo into this john by saying this is the same shit he pulled with halo in your inital story.

jackson acknowlegdes in his letter that he understands why new line want this to happen so fast as they have a limited time for this but he also said that is something they have never told him before.

but the thing is this can be resolved quickly. newline could resolve this tomorrow. It could be finished with if New Line willingly opens the books to an independant aditor. that is what jackson is wanting. they will accept whatever the findings are. It doesn’t even have to go to court…..it can all happen outside of court.
the reason it is going to court is New Line don’t want to open the books on LOTR so they are fighting it. If they have nothing to hide why don’t they just let an independant auditor assess it? why go through the lengthy court battle if you know you have done nothing wrong. if new line were to let an independant auditor come in and look at the LOTR books then this could all be buried. but new line don’t want that so to court they go. new line could finish all of this tomorrow. that is what jackson is saying in his letter. let us have an audit done and we can begin work. it is new line who seem to be hiding something.

it appears to me that New Line thought they could use this as a way to make this audit disappear and it hasn’t worked.

and again if MGM are furious as they have said because of new line not informing of their decision they can delay this film until the rights revery back to the original owner…new line could make the film sure but they can’t release it without MGM. and there is no way MGM have just made a deal that lets new line do whatever they want. they have been trying to sort this deal out for years and no studio would make a deal like that. MGM are partners on the project with new line and New lines first move is too piss them off.

and yes battlestar gets better and better as it goes along. i don’t normally like butch woman but starbuck is very nice. the show is great….i didn’t realise apollo was british either…he does a good american accent…

and I have been waiting to hear you and doug get into it about mel gibson..you must continue that debate … far too short….

  5. And Alfie:

Glad you liked BSG. Trust me… it only gets better.

But dude… you said something so totally silly:

“jacksons letter he says “when the audit is done independantly we will be happy to accept whatever ruling they make” well new line seem very keen to make sure the audit doesn’t take place which seems fishy to me”

GAAA!!! Haven’t you been listneing?!?!?! New Line CAN’T wait until all that stuff is done because it takes YEARS and New Line will lose thier rights to the film. They have only 2 choices: 1) Offer to negotiate a settlement with Jackson (which they did and Jackson refused to negotiate) or 2) Do the film without him.

So I ask again… if you’re in charge of New Line… waht do you do?

  6. Oh Alfie, why are you forcing me to repeat myself with question to which I’ve alredy answered?

IF Jackson was soooooooo ripped off by New Line, and didn’t want to “hop into bed with them” again as you put it… then why not just say so? That’s not the case here. I could TOTALLY understand if Jackson felt slighted by New Line (even if he’s wrong about it) that he just plain wouldn’t want to work with them again. Fine. No Problem. HOWEVER…

That’s not what’s happeneing here is it? No, it’s not. This is Jackson, once again, using his PR spin machine to cry to the public and try to make himself look good and point the finger at aother people.

Jackson said he DOES WANT TO WORK WITH NEW LINE AGAIN. (there goes your argument) but not until after the court trial. AND he refuses to negotiate a settlement. New Line wanted to talk… to deal… that’s what 2 parties do when they have a dispute. But Jackson won’t even negotiate… won’t even talk… and then has the nerve to come to the fans, cry foul as if he REALLY WANTED to do Hobbit, but mean old New Line won’t let him. He’s turned from a great filmmaker (still is) into a first rate bullshitter.. and guess what… all the little PJ fanboys are eating it up.

And once again Alfie, you put words in my mouth and then debate me as if I said them. I NEVER EVER EVER said New Line did no wrong here. Not once… and yet you respond to me as if I said they did. That’s really frustrating.

And no Alfie… the distributor doesn not get to pick the director. And who gave those rights to MGM? Oh right… New Line (look it up). This is New Line’s call 100%. not MGM’s, not anyone elses. MGM can have a say… but at the end of the day it’s New Line’s call.

    AND…

I notice you didn’t comment on the BIGGEST issue here:

New Line only has a limited period of time to make the film before they lose the rights to the property. Jackson refuses to do it until after those right lapse. Soooooooo… what the fuck is New Line Suposed to do? Would YOU just let all your rights go? Would you let a huge franchise slip through your fingers just because Peter Jackson wouldn’t work with you? No, you wouldn’t. Neither would I. And obviously neither would New Line

So I ask you again Alfie… what is New Line Supposed to do? Offer Jackson a settlement? They did, Jackson refused to negotiate. So now what? What does New Line do? Answer that question.

Answer it. What would you do now if you were in charge of New Line? I’ll tell you what you’d do. You’d move on and do the movie with someone else. Plain and simple.

If that’s not what you would do… then what other alternatives do you have?

And what the fuck does Halo have to do with this? Since when do i have a “bee in my bonet”? You make yourself look desperate when you try to reference stuff that has nothing to do with the issue at hand dude. Tucker? Where the fuck did that come from?

Either discuss the issue at hand and don’t discuss.

  7. oh and I gave battlestar galactica one more chance…I rented the mini series.

It is terrible. awful on every level.

I kid I kid …..actually i watched it and immediately went and bought series one and two. I am totally hooked.

the way you guys go on about it I figured I had to give it another shot and you are correct. its fucking great.

  8. oh and one last thing…In jacksons letter he says “when the audit is done independantly we will be happy to accept whatever ruling they make”

well new line seem very keen to make sure the audit doesn’t take place which seems fishy to me

  9. actually campea it totally matters what mgm think….

New Line own the rights to make the film…

MGM own the rights to distribute it….

and they have made a partnership deal to co produce the film….

Plus MGM don’t have a timelapse problem..they have always had the distribution rights…they have had them for years. they have obviously been negotiating for a long long time to come to an agreement and the first thing New Line do is go behind their back. MGM spokesman has said they are angry about this and that it is far from over. New Line cannot go it alone.

    They are partners john….

Jackson has never said out right that they have ripped him off. but its easy to reading between the lines. he wants an audit done to clarify some “accounting irregularities”. His letter was actually pretty tame – it was hardly some hard hitting wailing about mean old new line.

why do you keep saying jackson held a gun to new lines head – you can easily turn it around and say new line held the gun to jackson head…”settle this on our terms of we won’t let you direct the hobbit”..it isn’t about ransom demands..its about negotiating a gigantic film property. Why do you think Jackson should just roll over and take whatever new line offer.

if it was just about money why would he not accept a settlement? he stands to make a lot more money making the hobbit then going through some lengthy court case?

if they have cheated him why shouldn’t he be able to go after what they are meant to pay him? it isn’t like he has just decided he wants more money for no reason. he is trying to establish whether or not they owe him more.he even said in his letter if that they are willing to accept whatever ruling an INDEPENDANT person gives it.they just want their day in court –

campea if you think it is unlikely that new line have cooked the books and ripped him off then you live in a dreamland where studios are straight up honest folks…I am not saying they are guilty..that is for the courts to decide – I am saying that they more than likely are. its a common thing in hollywood practice…
Go and read art buchwalds book about his attempts to get his share of the profits from Eddie Murphys Coming To America..not only do they steal his idea..they offer him points as compensation and then try to tell him the film made no money…..great book

that maybe an old story but it happens all the time….the makers of forrest gump claimed it made no money so the people with points didn’t get anything…

It is for a court to decide whether new line have done this and for me personally I will be shocked to find they haven’t.

but lets face it john we are never going to agree…you also claim chris tucker held a gun to new lines head over rush hour 3 which is just not true. poor new line having those guns haled to them all the time.

He said he wanted 25 million to be in the film.that isn’t holding a gun john. …he had every right to ask for that..I am not saying it isn’t insane but its contract negotiating…not hostage taking.he wanted x amount of dollars and they gave it to him.

be honest john…. if you really felt someone had totally ripped you off for the kinds of money they must talking would you be happy to jump into bed with them without sorting it out first? of course not because you would want to know you could trust them.would you just happily accept their first offer. I know you have a bee in your bonnet about jackson for some reason over halo and now this but be honest – would you really want to let the guys who you thought have probably ripped you off go free..not only go free but accept a deal on their terms and let them get away with it…of course you wouldn’t

  10. Just going to talk about a few points.

    1) I always saw The Hobbit as something seperate of LOTR. I would like to see a different look to it.

    2) John, Darren, Doug, Wormwood and Bruxy, get your asses out and buy Lost season one, trust me you won’t be disapointed. Holloway can act, he is the man for the job, this in my opinion would be perfect casting.

    4) I gave Casino Royale 7/10. I thought it was really good, Craig is the best Bond ever, but the movie was a thad too long and kinda confused me a bit.

    6) I remember recording porn off the tv…man they were good times, but I never found them recorded tapes with the porn on them again.

I didn’t think your podcast sucked at all, I really enojyed it, try get some peeps on to discuss the issues.

  11. Let’s get this straight right now,

It doesn’t matter what MGM wants. Not one squat. They don’t have the rights to the film. New Line does. Periord. The only thing MGM can do at this point is try to talk some sense into Jackson to come to the table and negotiate and drop this “My way or the highway” attitude he’s exhibiting here.

    Secondly. Alfie said:
“the fact that new line have more than likely ripped him off”

Really??? Where does it say that? Oh right… Lord Jackson said it… so it must be true.

    THirdly,

Jacson is the one who held the gun to New Line’s head… not the other way around. New Line wanted to settle the Lawsuit, they wanted to deal with Jackson. Jackson said “no”. This isn’t New Line’s doing… this is Jackson’s doing.

Jackson knows New Line only has a limited period of time to make this picture. New Line has no choice. They offered to deal with Jackson, and he refused. They have no choice but to move on without him.

I REPEAT: New Line offered to negotiate with Jackson, to make it possible for him to direct the film and settle the lawsuit. Jackson refused. So what the hell is New Line supposed to do? Just let time lapse and lose their rights to the film?!?!?! I woulnd’t do that. None of you would do that either.

  12. Actually the extended King Kong adds only 15 minutes, and includes, as a seperate feature, 38 minutes of deleted scenes…but I can see how this can get confused as I thought the same thing before I purchased it.

  13. Apparently MGM have come out and said they had no idea new line had done this – dropped jackson form the hobbit and they have said this isn;t over as they want jackson to direct it.

The film can’t be made without MGM…

so lets say this is true…New Line went behind MGMS back and tried to use this as a way to make the lawsuit disappear..doesn’t that make NEw Line look even more shady??

they don’t tell their partner in the filmthey are talking to jackson and then they have the balls to say they won’t make the film with him without talking to MGM at all….

this doesn’t make new Line look very good and MGM have said this is far from over….I wonder if they will just stall until New Lines part of the rights revert back to Saul Zantz next year.

He wants Jackson to make…MGM want jackson to make it…..gives jackson time to make Lovely Bones and then New Line get totally left out all together..

I think New lIne just made a stupid mistake because if I was MGM and Saul Zantz I would be stalling to get rid of them…plus MGM must be pretty angry with NL for doing this without talking to them.
New Line don’t hold all the cards here. They forgot there is a third party involved….

  14. i am not arguing whether it was smart for him to do or not.

    it was obviously stupid.

(on the other hand, his name is in headlines for the first time in 10 years….)

i am just implying that he does have the makings of a moral standpoint, and i don’t think he really should just have to roll over and take it from the public.

  15. what is his crap that you are getting sick of??
the fact that new line have more than likely ripped him off and he doesn’t want them to get away with it?
if this was about money he stands to make a hell of a lot more making the hobbit then he does going to court – its about the studios creative accounting practices..nothing more nothing less.

and lets remember they hadn’t even had a meeting about the film yet. he hadn’t agreed to do it….they were about to begin meetings and new line have decided to not offer it to him…after trying to blackmail him into effectively dropping the lawsuit.

  16. Amazing show as always guys!

The thing with Michael Richards is this, it doesn’t matter if people were shouting racist stuff first, he was still a totall idiot for doing it too. He’s on stage, he’s a celebrity, he should have been smarter. Call the guys in the audience any other name in the book. Say they rape their own mothers, but don’t destroy yourself in the process. That’s what he did.

I’m one of the biggest Peter Jackson fans in the world, but even I’m getting sick of his crap. I think all the fat from his guy has gone to his head now.

    YES! BSG podcast!!!!!

  17. fuck it.

those guys threw the racial rock first, they can go to hell.

different skin doe snot equal different rights and it sure as hell should not equal different expectations.

no one covered themselves in glory in that incident, but i think if what you are telling me is true then old kramer was entitled to say whatever the hell he wanted to those assholes.

  18. This Michael Richards stuff is horse shit.

Number 1, the dude was heckling from the crowd, assholes like that not only ruin it for the audience, but it completly throws off the comedian, its like yelling in someones back swing, completely un-fucking-called for.

Number 2, the racial slant was started by said heckler, “white boy”, “cracker” apparantly acceptable racist slurs.

Maybe its just my “eye for an eye” mentality, but if you toss out racist slurs you also toss away your right to be offended by racial retorts. You dont want to be called a Ni**er, the dont call someone a Craker.

I saw this chump on ABC news and he calmly explained how he heckled Richards and said he expected Richards to respond in a professional manner with a joke…..blink blink…you go to someones job and embarrass them in front of an entire audience and you expect a curtious response??? WHAT FUCKING PLANET AM I LIVING ON!?!?!?

I personally dont think Richards is a racist, I think he was fucking RAGING, and speaking from experience, when you get your rage on, you dont fall back on your personal beliefs or moral structure, you want to hurt someone, and since physical violence is not an option you want to verbally hurt someone, you want to say the worst possible thing possible to bury that person. If the heckler was physically handicapped you can bet your ass Richards would have said everything from Gimp to Retard. Would that make him prejudice against the physically handicapped?…no, but thats just my opinion.

The only thing Richards is guilty of is taking off the gloves, plain and simple. You’re gonna come at me? well Im going to come right back and bury you, Im going to say anything and everything possible to hurt you, not as bad as you hurt me mind you, worse, much worse, so maybe you will think twice about opening your mouth to me again.

Thats the problem with today’s society, how/why is everyone just breezing past the part where the heckler interupted a live show, embarrassed a live performer and tossed out multiple racial slurs!?!?!? BEFORE Richards said one word to him?

I feel nothing but pity for Richards who’s now caught up in the American Media Circus. This was a verbal war, initiated by the heckler, who’s weapon of choice was racial taunts and because he got verablly bitch slapped he’s now crying foul because todays social/political climate over-compensates for the color of his skin and paints him as the “victim”.

If you slap me in the face and then I kick you in the nuts and knee you in the face, who’s the “victim”? The one who is hurt worse or the one who was minding his own business and was attacked?

    BAH I give up!!!

  19. Alfie, I don’t know about folks hating women in comics based films …no one said anything bad about:

    1) Michelle Pfeiffer

    2) Famke Janssen

    3) Margot Kidder

    4) Cameron Diaz [Mask]

    5) Anna Paquin

    6) Jennifer Connelly [not just Hulk; Rocketeer as well]

    7) Kelly Hu

    8) Sarah Douglas

    9) Leonor Varela [Blade II]

    10) Rebecca Romijn {X-Men films and Punisher}

Granted, a good chunk of the actresses I named played “bad girls”/villians/putting on leather or lack thereof, but I had to come up with ten who are generally at this point in time, unscathed. I’m sure if you did deep enough, you’ll find one naysayer or two..I’m putting out the “general” overall women who have had more than twenty minutes onscreen
(which is why I didn’t count Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brant; Kelly Hu’s Deathstrike just made the cut)

That all said, I still agree that Halle is fine; it was the wig in X-Men that turned folks off. The second film had a hair improvement, Halle also seemed to have a beefed up part, and was slightly better with the Storm character. The best hair in Last Stand, her character had a lot to do. Since in Last Stand it was clearly stated that Storm is now headmaster of the school (until the Xavier/coma dude arrives) …you can’t cut the character out.

[but can the past be recast…ahhhh…that’s another story]

  20. The guys in the crowd were calling him cracker and white bitch before he went nuts on them. THEN suddenly they got racially sensitive and started saying ‘That’s uncalled for!’ like a couple of nerds.

Racism isn’t funny, but the fact that people are once again jumping on the ‘respond to hatred with more hate’ bandwagon is ironically funny.

  21. i would like to see the entire video of kramer’s freak out.

we only have after he is already pissed off.

i want to see what pissed him off.

i do not trust the media to accuratly represent any star when they are in hot water. they want to sell papers. headlines like ‘kramer hates blacks!’ sells papers.

as far as i am concerned a white person saying ‘nigger’ is not enough for me to hate them. especially since we have all heard different races make different slurs behind closed doors and on stages.

    i want context.

/he definitly is mad as hell. i want to see what triggered it before i decide he hates black people or not.

  22. Like Bruxy, I’ve recently started watching Battlestar Galactica because of the sheer enthusiasm of you guys, and I haven’t been disappointed. I’d be interested by a podcast but I second what TJ said – it would be great to start from the beginning of the show.

  23. i always liked it when roger moores bond visited his dead wifes grave….i can’t remember which film but it was a nice touch…

I have seen casino royale twice now….I do like it but it is too long –

he has potential to maybe be the best bond….he is certainly the best actor to have played bond but he isn’t the best bond…yet.
give him a few more films before you start throwing that kind of talk around.

go and watch from russia with love and tell me that you think connery would kiss your ass before kicking it…if you want to avoid an ass kicking don’t order red wine with fish….

and i don’t know why everyone gives halle berry such a hard time about the x men films…she is fine…why do guys in particular always hate the girl characters in comic book movies…

kate bosworth – pretty muich hated
    kirsten dunst – hated
    katie holmes – hated

there seems to be a very child like “girls smell” attitude taken on my a lot of comic book movie fans about girls in the films…

I thought holmes was fine with what she was given in batman but jesus people hate her…

bosworth was a terrible lois lane but that was more due to it being a terrible casting decision than anything else

anyway – I also agree with doug…i think we will ultimately see jackson doing the hobbit…but then again he has other things lined up so who knows…it is a tough spot for a director to step into….it will be enough pressure on jackson to maintain the standard he set with lotr ..imagine the pressure on some new guy…no matter what he does it will be compared to lotr and that is a pretty big benchmark to try and reach

the rumour that the director of kpax and the skeleton key might be doing it is a bit scary….

  24. Regarding Darren’s comments on downloading cutting into the rental market, I would have to agree with his assessment. A few months ago I bought a new computer and regained internet access after a 2-year hiatus. My DVD player conked out at the same time, and instead of buying a new one I picked up the necessary cables to hook my computer to my television. There is no difference between the two in picture quality and my visits to video rental outlets have decreased dramatically, though I do still buy the occassional movie.

Quite a few of my friends and co-workers are in the same boat, and the number is growing. Does this mean significant changes will be evident immediately? No, of course not. The majority of people will stick with their normal method of movie selection for the forseeable future. But, the rental market is going to suffer escalating erosion because of illegal downloading, particularly, as Darren pointed out, as more people growing up accustomed to this method as their primary means of obtaining movies replace those who know only the older means of delivery.

  25. oh yeah I forgot PLEASE GOD DO A BATTLESTAR GALACTICA PODCAST. You guys are the reason I even got into it and now I love it. Also start from the beginning and work your way to the present. So people just starting out like me can get gong better. Cause if you jump right into season 3 I will be lost for a while. I don’t mean take a long time but if you could do like 1 episode on both seasons or 2 even taht would be good then go from the present. Note: I would love more then 2 episodes but I know you probably want to get going on whats new.

  26. Great podcast! So much fun listening to you guys … and Doug’s tirade about hyphenated names? Just hilarious.

I just wanted to say : “YES!!! PLEASE DO A BATTLESTAR GALACTICA PODCAST!” I’d love to listen to your dissection of the BSG episodes!

  27. Hang on to something, here cometh the whirlwind…

About X-Men: I strongly disagree that all loose ends are “tied up”. I also strongly disagree that Halle Berry was horrid in the X films. There ARE a lot of people who will say she is/was awful just as there ARE those like myself who says she’s fine.

But John, may I ask a few questions?

    1) Hugh Jackman was not a big name six years ago, and even won the role of Wolverine by chance. So if Fox got an actor who isn’t well known, and it is an ensemble, as long as that actor is good, does it matter? This is an oversight on your part.

    2) You forgot about Ben Foster’s Angel. Angel should return, and, in addition, Foster’s working his way up in roles. Not a lot of focus in ‘Last Stand’. but the character still might go down the path of ‘Archangel’ in future films.

    3) The show “Grey’s Anatomy” features an actor who is emerging as a ‘star’ of that show. Actor Eric Dane also played Multiple Man in the previous X film. It would not surprise me if there was a small possibility of that character coming back. [He is also set up as a thief in Last Stand; Gambit is also a former thief]

    4) Considering that if Cyke is really dead (we never actually saw him die) Jean Grey is gone…Prof X is another body…Beast is in Public Office…If there is no Logan or Storm who is running Xavier’s School? They did underuse Cyclops…or is it possible that “new teachers” might be recruited, such as Cyke’s brother Havok/Alex Summers? In any case, there are many loose ends.

    *********
    Casino.

As mentioned above, the opening foot chase involved free running/parkour, but as muh as I loved the film…I would have trimmed a minute there if I could. It went on for too damn long.

There was a scene in which I thought Le Chiffe was a wuss; but then a few scenes later, I wondered if it was an act. Still, he makes up for it. Yet, I felt a small disappointment when he left the film, as a result, the last action piece of the film felt anti-climactic.

Oh, by the way, John, you’re flat out wrong…twice. This isn’t the first Bond film where Bond falls in love. In ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ Bond actually got married. {This was the George Lanzby Bond} His new bride was killed in front of him, shortly after the honeymoon. In addition, Timothy Dalton had two Bond outings, not one.

But be of good cheer! Here’s something where you are not wrong on: this is the Best Bond movie ever made, although I did always enjoy “Dr. No”, “Live and Let Die” and “Tommorow Never Dies”.

The film clocked in at two hours and thirty minutes.
How long was Happy Feet? Think a few more showings might have been cranked in?

In addition, you should amend “never underestimate the family film” to “never underestimate the animated family film”. It seems whenever a well produced and acted family film comes along, if it don’t say “Disney”, nobody sees it.

    ******

Micheal Richards is a good actor who did well as Kramer on Seinfield. Thus he thought he was a comedian and did mostly Kramer like roles in TV and film, which went nowhere fast.

Then he thought he was a stand up comedian. Many stand up comedians have hecklers. They know good comebacks, make the other guy look foolish, and move on. Yes, the media has ignored the heckler’s comments, as Tom suggested. But that’s not an excuse for Richards to blow his stack. He is onstage; the heckler was not. I doubt some people even heard the man. But they heard Richards. He had the mike, did he not?

Andrew Dice Clay – where are you when we need ya, bro?

    ************

I’ve done my say on Life Day. But now that you mention it, I always thought Mark Hamhill looked womanlike in ‘Corvette Summer’.

    ***********

  28. “You can have a Lord of the Rings special edition, make it four hours long, and it feels like you’ve been sitting there for twenty minutes.”

Funny, I had the opposite reaction. I only got twenty minutes into the first Lord of the Rings movie and I had to turn it off. It seemed like it had gone on for four hours.

  29. Though not much of a Gambit fan, Josh Holloway would do great in this role. It’s pretty much the same character he plays in Lost anyway.

I thoroughly enjoyed Casino Royale. The last 30 to 45 minutes could have been shorter but Daniel Craig totally delivered. There were guys in the theater who were wincing at the torture scene.

And as for a BSG podcast, go for it! There are only a few podcasts and aside from Ron Moore’s commentary, the others aren’t that good. So I’ll be happy to listen to your insights and discussion.

  30. There’s a big difference between jokes about race and racism, a white guy has just as much right to make jokes about race as a black guy, a Jewish guy or anyone else, but that was not jokes about race that was flat out race hate.

A lot of people seem to be trying to compare his outburst to comedians joking about racial stereotypes, but I don’t think he was trying to make a joke even a racist joke, he was just being racist.

@ Evan, I can’t speak for other people, but I don’t find the need to make excuses any kind of race hate, be it against Jews, Blacks, Asian, whites or anyone else. Its either wrong or it’s not and in my personal opinion I find it wrong who ever it comes from. I have no problem with race based comedy and being politically uncorrected it can be funny, but race hate is race hate and not excusable in my opinion.

  31. Just caught the youtube video. That is ugly. Apart from the unacceptable racist comments, there is a real bitterness underlying Michael Richard’s whole tirade.

  32. I like how you guys forget to mention the black guy in the audience calling him a ‘cracker’ and ‘white boy.’

They were BOTH acting like ignorant, dumbass 12 year olds.

  33. This edition was not easy to listen too.

John – you sounded like you were eating the microphone at times. Can you all sit/stand the same distance from the microphones so your voices are at the same audio level?

Otherwise, a fun episode. Doug’s rant againt hyphenated names was comedy gold.

  34. The guys who does these cool jumping/running in the new James Bond are practioner in Parkour, the art of movement. You can learn more about it here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour

Luc Besson produce three action films on this art. Check out Banlieue 13 starring David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli. These guys are awesome. All the physical stunts were done with real physical skills and talent.

  35. this is my last post on the hobbit thing matter but on your ealier post you were saying you’re sick of his pr people act like his shit don’t stink I don’t see where anyone is claiming anything like that here….

they are in litigation….if anyone is holding a gun to anyones head here it is new line….they are saying to jackson “accept our deal or we use someone else”.they have pretty much said “hey peter lets just forget this whole matter of us more than likely owing you millions and make this film so we can all get richer” and jackson said no. so new line have gone “well then we are taking our bat and ball and going home”

jackson isn’t going after money he was never owed. its not like he just feels he deserves more. he obviously believes new line owe him money as per their deal and to be honest they more than likely do – studios do this all the time and you can almost bet that that is exactly what new line have done here.

it isn’t about shit stinking…its about new lines desperate need to get a production underway quickly as the rights go back to saul zantz next year if they have no film underway and saul zantz has said that he will definitely get jackson to direct it.

rumour has it they have already offered it to iain softly..the director of the skeleton key and …gulp…K-Pax.
