Orlando Bloom Out for Pirates 4?
The nonstop money train created with Pirates of the Caribbean might be making a stop in Bloom Station. Rumour has it his ticket will only take him as far as the next movie.
Orlando Bloom’s character in the now-juggernaut Pirates of the Caribbean series will not survive through the inevitable fourth installment — so says a Disney insider who spoke to the British paper Daily Star. According to the source, the script for the fourth film is currently being written, and Disney bean counters are already examining ways to cut its massive costs. They have concluded that although both Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley are essential to the continued success of the series, Orlando’s character is human NyQuil and “not necessary” to maintain the gravy train (I could have told them that). Whether or not he will be killed in the third movie, due next summer, or be bumped off early in the fourth is not specified.
Personally I had predicted that the series would continue without any of the main characters at all, and that if they kept anyone, it would be Depp.
For the sake of the storyline, I would prefer that he and Knightly retire their characters so they dont break them up JUST for a plot device. The alternative however is to have Blooms character DIE. While this will upset teenyboppers across the nation, it would be the only “logical” way to remove the character. To have Swan and Turner separate under any other reason would undermine their trimph over adversity in their relationship.
Besides. Knightly looks TOO hot as a pirate anyways. No point in giving up that angle.
This of course presumes that there will even BE a fourth movie. One of the other reasons quoted for cutting Bloom is that as a main character he will likely demand equal pay to Depp and Knightly. And aside from the idea that he wont really “earn” that much of a draw for the movie, they admit that they are looking to cut costs.
Why cut costs on a series that is dragging in truckloads of money? I am thinking that maybe Disney doesnt have the confidence in a fourth movie, and if they DO go ahead with it as all rumours imply they are, that they will be tightening the purse strings to ensure it makes them some money.
I can’t imagine why on earth Disney would feel the need to cut costs. Yes, be financially responsible… but it’s not like they barley made any profit.
Even if Pirates 3 takes a dip at the box office from Pirates 2 (which I think it will) it’ll STILL make TONS of cash.
Either way, dispite what all the “reports” have suggested, I dout they’ll be able to get any of the leading cast back for a Pirates 4.

I’ve seen Depp say in plenty of interviews that he would be willing to do more Pirate’s movies.

But if they are going to write Bloom out, I would rather they write out Kiera’s character too.
Having Will Turner die would just undermine everything the audience and the characters went through in the first 3 movies.
Kind of like how in the 3rd Terminator movie when we found out that judgement day was inevitable it just spit in the face of the whole underlying message of the first 2 movies.

Dont kill him, just let Will and Elizabeth ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after, and then bring in a new cast of supporting characters to help Jack continue his pirate adventures.
I cant imagine it’d be too hard to write someone more compelling and interesting than “block-o-wood-Will” Orlando Bloom.
It’s this simple: Orlando is NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Keira is. That girl can act her ass off, even though she hasn’t shown it in this franchise. I recently saw Pride and Prejudice for the first time, and man oh man is she FANTASTIC in that flick. For God’s sake, she holds her own in a scene with Dame Judi Dench! Orlando could never do that. Yeah, he’s pretty, and I’d fuck him for sure, but then I’d have to leave really quick so he wouldn’t give me that monotone voice of his and totally ruin my buzz. By all means, dump him.
well yes Keira can act for sure, but i dun like her in POTC… i was hoping they would cut her out and keep Orlando in, i dunno why, but i just think Orlando helps with the story, tho yes he does look cheesy in POTC.. and everywhere else, but there’s the humour!

I’m loving this idea. Personally, I’d rather see Ms. Swan end up with good ole Jack than with that sissy boy who’s name I can’t even remember.
What if the Jack Sparrow character gets boring and drone? Will they remove everyone? I like Orlando’s character as well as Kiera’s. And I hope the trio remains where they are.
Orlando is a bad actor and since I am in my 30s I don’t find him attractive at all, he is good looking but not my cup of tea!
I think Keira and Johnny are the ones who drives this franchise, more so Johnny but Keira is an amazing actress!

Potc took in the most money and ranked highest on the movie charts in Chatam County.The prob get most money bak and more. I think they should keep all of them in. We’ll Better Will than Jack. this is crazy. first of all pirates 2 made over $1 billion worldwide…why would they need to “cut costs”? if the third one is just as successful…they won’t have any need for this!

i recently did read that orlando is being tired of being recognized for just the pirates movies…he apparently “doesn’t want to be the pirate guy” he would like to be recognized for his other works. this is probably what they mean by him asking “too much” money. in my opinion, it would be a VERY BAD mistake in cutting him out.

I know you might WANT there to be something with Depp and Knightley, but there is NO relationship possibilities with Jack and Liz. They have been MORE than clear about that through the series. Elizabeth had a number of opportunities to do something with Jack and the ONE time she kissed him it was to issue him a death sentence.
Though I hardly like Will as much as Jack, he is an important part of the story, and balances out the plethera of over the top characters, and keeps the underlying theme of honor within the movie. Without Will’s voice of reason, all of the movies would just be a free for all of unruly parates gone really wild. You have to have variety in a movie just like in real life.
I would hate to see jack and Elizabeth get together. There would be no reason for anything more than a fling. jack is not a one-woman-man, plus he is way too old for her. If they got together, that would mean the end of him, just like the real life pirate Blackbeard when he married.

Both Orlando and Keira have admitted that they will not return if they do Pirates 4. At best, Disney will simply have the two of them in one last adventure then settling down to make babies. Never to be seen in the franchise again.

Ok now I know a lot of people are annoyed by Bloom, but he like completes the story. Did you not see his face when he saw Elizibeth kissing Sparrow in the end of POTC2? They can’t just kill him. There has to be an emotional struggle with him, swann, and sparrow. There are so many more twists they they could do, but not without turner. And as for Pirates 4, 5 and 6 they can’t break up the trio or its not pirates anymore. They will just be taking it to far. Yea they can add characters but people will definitly stop watching. Like the person said above it will just turn into the Jack Sparrow Movie. Thats not Pirates. Cut costs differently not by taking out bloom, they’ll lose money. I SAY KEEP THE DANG TRIO!
Will adds so much to the film. His earnestness, honor and sensitivity make the perfect foil for Jack’s hilarious what’s-he-up-to-next, look-out-for-number-one character. Some people think Will’s too goody-goody, but I disagree. Does anyone remember the first scene with grown-up Will in Pirates 1? He’s already a thief! I for one appreciate his “good pirate” character. Elizabeth has been his only love. Can Disney be so cruel? I cried when I read the rumors.
I think you should keep Will for the forth movie if you decide to have one.

I think that this is the smartest thing that the directors of the movie have ever done besides making Johnny Depp Jack Sparrow!! I’m really dissapointed that Orlando is leaving….but honestly Johnny Depp was the one who had all the parts, he was the one who carried the movie that’s why I think they made him get eaten by the Kraken in the second movie so that Orlando could have his great chance for the third movie! We are just movie fans/critics and really just a bunch of normal guys who like movies.
That all being said, I dont care how dreamy the little girls think Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom are. Its their characters and what they mean to the franchise that makes a difference. I wouldnt mind seeing more of Sparrow, but the whole Elizabeth/Will storyline is already tired. Let them get on with their lives and bring us new pirate stories.
i really think that the character of will turner should remain in the movie. i mean, it was his character that started the whole thing, wasnt it? it was his dads pirate necklace thing that brought back barbossa and all them. will has also promised to his father to set him free from davy jones. i know that will most likely happen in the third movie, but it should still continue on with will. the movies have mainly been about the three of them: will jack and elizabeth. jack only wants elizabeth becos shes hot. everyones talking about how liz and will should make babies in the third and go away. well maybe in the fourth movie they could come back with a child or two, who could be kidnapped or something after liz and will have settled down away from pirating life. i dunno just an idea, lol. but yea. keep will turner in the movie, otherwise a lot of girls (and some guys, lol) are going to boycott the fourth movie by not seeing it. all the movies so far have gotten excellent box office results, so they should have enough money to afford to pay orlando. besides, i dont think orlando would be the kind of guy who would be greedy and demand heaps of money. if they’re gonna pay lead roles equally, then just lower the pay a little for each of them. it would save a bit of money, while they are all equally paid. i really think will should stay. i know i keep saying this, but he should. not just becos i like him and think any movie with him is good just cos hes in it, cos i dont think that (well i do think he’s rather good-looking, but thats beside the point). i just feel that disney would do better to keep him in it.

Its over. The characters will not return. If any at all it will be Jack Sparrow who returns since Depp does love to play him.

This is the real world, and 2 out of the 3 lead actors have stated they will NOT return, so how are they going to write them out of the script? This is not an issue of whether they SHOULD remove them. They already are not going to come back.

hasnt it already said that there is going to be a fourth movie and the actors have signed for it. And if they sut someone or not it will probably still be a good movie…i doubt the actors would say no to another movie, if there is goin to be one….but meh, what do I know…
Third movie. The actors are already on with the third movie which is being produced back to back with part 2 so they can be released one summer after the other.
Knightly says Pirates 3 was her last movie in the franchise, and the studio already said they dont want Bloom after part 3.
If there is a part 4 (still speculating – yet likely) the studios are unsure as to who would actually be in it or if the story would even revolve around Sparrow at all now that the remainder of the supporting cast is officially out.
I think that they should keep all of the characters. No movie will be the same if you cut any of them out. But I don’t mind if they add any in. I really don’t want Will to die. They either do a good forth or don’t do a forth at all.
What I think is that the trio does make the movies happen…but eventually one of them has to die to make the elongated series more interesting and it may as well be Will cuz the other two are just too valuable…I think it’s a good idea to do 4, 5, and 6 as long as Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport, and Johnny Depp are still in it…if Keira quits there’s no real point to having three more movies…she brings the Elizabeth charectar to life…and her and Jack Sparrow DO make a good couple so I think that should work out

I Love Johnny Depp! I am also a big fan of the movie but if they really kill will then it would just change everything. Jack will And Elizebeth a great together. I mean Why does Orlando not want to be known as the pirate man? I mean thats like one of the most beloved movies ever maid and almost every girl in the nation likes him as will. Why would you want to take out Orlando when he’s one of the most loved characters this may be one of the stupidest moves to make. I personally think that if you were to take out Orlando less people would watch and it would be more boring. I like the three of them together it makes the movie worth watching over and over again. Ok Guys….I’m A Sparrabeth fan all the way, but I must agree that killing off Will would be a mistake. I personally like all three of the actors together. But if there were to be a Sparrabeth ending, then I dont see how they could keep will in the POSSIBLE 4th film. Maybe instead of just killing him off, they could make him Capt of the FD or something. But don’t lose faith Will fans, Nothing is carved in stone. There’s no need to get all panicky here yet. :) The only way to find out the outcome is to go and see the film, and who knows??? You might be worrying over nothing. Remeber to take any and all press rumors with a grain of salt. This is going to be an incredible film that I think is going to leave the die-hard fans wanting to keep coming back for as many Pirates films as TnT will write. Awesome, i hope that they continue with Jack and Elizabeth. Those two are meant for each other. And i really want to see their journey continue as a pirate couple.
I can honestly say I don’t want to see a 4th POTC movie. Trilogies are perfect. Any more than that and you lose original reason for the movie.
I think that Dinsey should make a fourth movie. Even though many people think that the third movie wont be as good as the first, i doubt it. From the trailers that i have seen, the third movie looks to be the greatest one of all. If disney were to make a fourth movie, they would need to include not only Depp and Knightley, but they would also need to have Bloom in the movie too. Many people, mostley the girls, go to see the movie becasue of Orlando Bloom, if you take him out of the picture, there will be no point in even shooting a moive. The reasons are becasue there will be no relationship between Will and Elizabeth and there will be no rivalvery between Will and Jack. To make a good movie, you need to include Bloom, Depp, and Knightley in the fourth movie for it to match up to all the other movies. Even in the end of the fourth movie if Will dies and the relationship between Will and Elizabeth is broken up, then you need to have a realtionship with Sparrow and Elizabeth then, or have something intense that will have people talking for many years. That way people will be asking, ” Will they be making another movie (5) that has a total ending to all of the moives or will they just quit becasue they cant get the same actor?” If you cant get the same actor then dont try to replace him with another. Like say if you cant get Depp back, dont try and get someone who looks like him becasue then the movie wont be the same and nobodyh will want to buy or come to see it. if you are going to make another movie (4) then go for it with all heist, but make sure that you have all the same actors (Depp, knightley, and Bloom) and then go from there.
I think they should keep all of them in the movies. It’s a perfect love triangle, it goes good with the story line. Keep’em all.

I think the movie wont be the same with out Orlando… if they were to cut anyone it should be Keira, because her part isn’t nearly as big as Orlando’s….. If you get rid of Orlando trust me you will be throwing even more money away because No One will want to see the movie… meaning you will gain less money!
