Director Joel Schumacher is going to kick some Nazi Vampire butt in new movie Helm Town Creek. Oh yes, this is good news. Our friends over at cinemablend.com give us this:

Joel Schumacher is done with froofy musicals (Phantom) and will return to the sort of filmmaking he’s good at. You know, stuff like bad vampire horror movies.

The Hollywood Reporter says the Batman & Robin director has signed up to helm Town Creek, a vampy Gold Circle horror movie. If vampires aren’t enough to get you interested, they’re also throwing in Nazis. It’s the story of a West Virginia man who helps his brother wipe out a family that once protected a Nazi vampire. See, genocide alone isn’t bad enough, to be really really evil you’ve also got to be a blood sucker. Gold Circle is the genre brand responsible for movies like Slither and the upcoming White Noise sequel. In other words, this is right up their alley. It’s written by Dave Kajganich, who seems to be the new it boy when it comes to horror sci-fi pitching. His first screenplay, The Visiting, hits theaters later this year and stars Nicole Kidman. He’s also working on another horror/thriller called Monkey’s Paw for 2008.

I am so excited about this! The director is going big, Nazi Vampire big. I see this being a very fun movie to watch. Schumacher hasn’t sunk his teeth into anything bloody in a while and the premise for this film is so outrageous that it just might work. I even have hope that the writing will be good since the writer Dave Kajganich has Nicole Kidman in his upcoming debut horror script. He has to be somewhat decent to attract big names to his first movie.

I love a good Vampire movie and there is nothing more cold blooded than a Nazi except…. a Nazi Vampire. The only thing that would make this better would be if it was a comedy. But comedy or not it is a delightful project and I wish many healthy buckets of blood on this production.

Be fruitful and multiply Nazi Vampire movie.

For all the godawful garbage Joel Schumacher has unleashed on the filmgoing public, I can’t help but love him a little bit for giving the world The Lost Boys. Such a good film.

Also, combining Nazis and vampires seems like a natural idea. I mean, you can combine anything with Nazis and it becomes evil – Nazi ice cream men, Nazi girl scouts, Nazi cheeseburgers, etc – so a Nazi vampire is going to be a pretty damn nefarious customer. If this Nazi vampire was also a member of boy band, he could be a contender for the Evil-est Dude Of All Time award.

I can’t say that I’m excited. This is the man that almost SINGLE HANDEDLY destroyed the Batman franchise and comic book movies in general… He will have to do A LOT to re-earn my respect. (But then again, who the hell am i, right?)

I wonder if the Vampire Nazi’s will be gay and all have nipples on their Nazi uniforms? Perhaps they will all carry the Nazi credit card? **shiver**

  3. A.J. says:

If you like Vampire Nazis, I recommend anime/manga Hellsing. Great stuff…

  4. Edward Lee says:

Let’s just hope Joel can refrain from focusing on so many Vampire nipples, and we might have something worth watching.

  5. 1138 says:

Joel can be very hit (Lost Boys, Veronica Guerin) or really really really miss( Batman and Robin, Flatliners, 8MM). So even though the premise of Nazis Vampires sounds cool…you never know.

  6. Josh says:

He hasnt made that many bad films! Sure Batman and Robin sucked and 8mm and Bad Company werent such great prizes either, but what about The Lost Boys, Flatliners, Falling Down, A Time to Kill? I never saw neither Tigerland nor The Client, so couldn’t tell you them. But I loved Phone Booth and even Batman Forever wasn’t that bad(cheesy, but decent).

    A question:

so, why are you on board with more vampire movies and not more zombie movies?

COULE IT BE BECAUSE YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE?!

    BWHAHAHAHAHAHHA

  8. miles says:

ps. i am assuming the answer is because you like the director and spin on this one. that is cool, just thought i might point it out. you know, be a jerk for a minute. to bad i suck at being a jerk, i mean come on, look at what i am typing here. fgt.

  9. sharon dewitt says:

A gal can love zombies AND vampires! It’s not like it’s incest.Vampire and zombies are not first cousins. My dream (lol ok not my dream but it would be cool) would be to star in a zombie vampire robot comedy horror movie. And yes, I like the concept for this movie.

When I read these news yesterday I nearly jumped for joy! I just hope he drops in a couple of references to The Lost Boys. Now THAT would be added fun!

  11. Carlos says:

Joel Schumacher is still alive? 8-X

  12. Mr Stay Puft says:

I’d be thrilled if it was being made by another director, but Joel Schumacher is a terrible director. Each “good” movie Josh mentioned above isn’t that good. Sure, The Lost Boys is a bad movie that’s fun to watch, but that’s due to the cool performance by Kiefer Sutherland and the great soundtrack. The direction is amateurish. He doesn’t know how to build suspense. A simple example of poor directing: The shots of the vampires flying out of their lair is from the point of view of their shoes, unless they are flying backwards, watching were they were. Adrian Lyne is another director who screws with POV in nonsensical ways. The film is a must miss.

I wish Joel Schumacher and Luc Besson would switch places.
