Jim Carrey and Steve Carell pair for new Dr. Seuss movie

Jim Carrey and Steve Carell are joining comedy forces for Dr. Seuss’ “Horton”. They worked well together in Bruce Almighty so why not Dr. Seuss? Yahoo.com give us this:
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Jim Carrey has been cast as Horton and Steve Carell as the Mayor of Who-Ville in “Horton Hears a Who,” a computer-animated feature based on Dr. Seuss’ classic 1954 children’s book. Carrey previously inhabited the world of Dr. Seuss as the title character of Universal Pictures’ 2000 live-action hit “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.” “Horton,” in pre-production at 20th Century Fox, marks his first animated project. The film is set for release in March 2008.
Horton is an imaginative elephant who knows that a person’s a person, no matter how small. The Mayor of Who-ville, meanwhile, is a distinguished figure of a very small size, too small to be seen by the elephant’s eyes.
In the story, Horton hears a cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Suspecting there may be life on that speck and despite a surrounding community which thinks he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to help. Geisel had one of the greatest imaginations of the 20th century, and Jim Carrey’s extraordinary talents are a wonderful match to Geisel’s vision,” said Chris Meledandri, president of Twentieth Century Fox Animation. “Steve Carell will not only be bringing his great comedic abilities to the role of the Mayor but also his uncanny gift of finding the humanity in every character he plays.”
Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Dr. Seuss? This will be a good movie but with Carrey and Carell why aren’t they doing a live action? Computer animation will never compare with the competitive nature of two very funny comedic actors in a movie where over the top facial expressions work. It’s like having a supermodel model for Wal-Mart clothing, yeah she’ll do a good job, but she could really work her stuff if you tossed her on a runway and told her to wear that fur bikini.
Of course there is the fact that the last two live action Dr. Seuss movies didn’t do as well as anticipated. The Grinch had mixed reviews and didn’t do as well as anticipated in box office revenues and The Cat in the Hat was an all around flop. So it makes sense to take this movie to animation. Also this story does lend itself more to animation with elephants and specs of dust and all. I’m sure it will be hylarious to hear Steve Carell in a fleck of dust driving Carrey to apparent madness. But real life could have been even better, especially if they had a director befitting Dr.Seuss, like Tim Burton.
With the great voices of Jim Carey and Steve Carell this movie will be a success and a lot of fun, it just would have been nice to see their faces too.

If memory serves, I think Jim Carrey DID NOT LIKE filming The Grinch. He was pissed about the make-up and eye contacts and that suit and what-not. I think he really had a miserable time and so I’m sure he wouldn’t be too thrilled about doing it again. I’m sure Horton is different than Grinch, but still…

Even Jim Carrey can’t save a Dr Suess Live action debacle.
I didn’t care much for Grinch:
Some parts of it made me wince.
Although Cat was a bigger blunder’

and the answer is the same old song.
It simply does not work, that ol’ Doctor Suess;
We wanted it to be hip, how could it lose?

Invite the Almightys Carell and Carrey.
As animation, this would work well- although tis a shame;
that the live action films turned out lame.
Funny. The Cat and Grinch didn’t do ‘well’. But those movies will be family staples on home video for generations to come.
I would rather see this live action to. With a CGI elephant.
HAHAHA! Good stuff DARREN.
Look, Im sorry, but I cant help feeling nauseos whenever I read your posts. What the hell is wrong with you? why do you always complain about the stupidest things and you even manege to not to be right??? I mean, because jim carrey is incredibly funny he can not do an animation movie? so he is obliged to do live ation movies for ever? just because he has a funny face? You are definitly stupid, really. I hate to see people like you are not responsible enough to stop wirtting in public places.
It seems wired to think that Steve Carell is a bigger name than Jim Carey at the moment. Where is the post that covers the back slide of Jim Carey’s career? I think he tried to emulate Tom Hanks and make a progression from silly comedian to serious actor. To bad it didn’t work. I liked him in both the Majestic and The Truman Show.
