Roadhouse 2 update

Roadhouse.jpgMiles Chapman, the writer of Roadhouse 2, has just emailed me with some on the set information from the movie.

First off, I should say that although I wrote the original draft of the script, I had been told it had been revised a few times and that I shouldn’t be disappointed if things are “a bit different.” Knowing this I arrived in Shreveport on Monday with some trepidation.

Thankfully, I have to say that from what I saw they are going to make a totally rocking action movie. The action sequences (ten in all. Yes, ten) are being staged by J.J. Perry of “Serenity” and “The Rundown” fame and he has got it going on. Diehard fans of the original are going to be very pleasantly surprised.

Well that’s good news, when I read that first paragraph I was concerned that Miles was going to tell us it had radically changes and he wasn’t that happy with it. However, it’s good news so far.

You’ll remember though that reaction to the idea that Patrick Swayze wasn’t going to be in the sequel wasn’t exactly glowing. Check out that very post. Miles has something to tell us on that…

Speaking of the original, I know there has been some negative reaction to the news that Patrick Swayze won’t be appearing in the film. Well, all I have to say is that Will Patton and Jonathan Schaech are carrying the torch proudly. Patton plays “Nate” Dalton’s brother, and owner of the Black Pelican. Schaech is “Shane” Nate’s nephew, and both of them are shockingly good in the action scenes (along with a stunt crew that are out of this world) as well as bringing a level of acting to an action sequel that’s surprisingly high.

We’ve got a promise of more info when and if he get’s it, bear in mind his work here is done and he has to sit back and watch his script come to life in others hands. Still, he’s managed to get his first script made…who knows what’s next.

    Roadhouse 2

    Hey Yall,

Otto here.I’m on the bus on the set of Roadhouse 2. We’ve been shooting band scenes playing some of the songs from the record. It’s a cool experience it’s a lot of hurry up and wait just like I expected but fun anyways. I’ve got Shannon Lawson playing in the band, he’s playing guitar and a little air fiddle. Two foot fred is here doing his thing, and we even got Shanna Crooks for a little stage bling and back ground vocals. It’s a totally new thing for me having never even shot a video but it’s a lot of fun and it’ll be interesting to see how they put it all together. We got into character by watching the original Roadhouse. I just wish I had a fight scene or at least got to break a bottle over someones head. I’m getting ready for my big movie speaking role debut, 3 whole lines but it’s a start and should be interesting anyways. I’ve always admired actors who can make you really believe what their doing. I have zero acting experience so keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best . Anyways just wanted to keep ya’ll updated.Keep on keeping on and we will see ya out there on the road.

    Otto.

What I really want to know: will the Jeff Healey Band be back?

Yeah, Jeff was cool at the time and it would be nice to see him in the sequel. But just like Patrick Swayze, Jeff’s not coming back. Instead they have a wonderful new talent to grace the big screen by the name of James Otto (with special guest Shannon Lawson). Both members of the MuzikMafia in Nashville, TN. Check ’em out at http://www.muzikmafia.com .

James is currently writing the songs for his new record entitled “The Otto Show” to be recorded this December-January with John Rich as producer. “The Otto Show” will spawn a single to radio in Feb-March. 2006 looks very promising for this musician who, with the help of his extended family, has become one of Nashville’s most likely to succeed.

  3. “I think you’re being a bit pointed and harsh against the guys there”

Against the guys, not the movie. I thought the comments were very negative against the two named individuals considering they’ve managed to do what they’ve done to date.

No one said you shouldn’t be allowed to criticise the movie.

Again check the original post and you’ll see I’m far from telling people not to criticise it.

  4. Ok, I’ll wait and see…how I’ll be right right on the spot with this one.

Still, I don’t think that because WE (the movieviewing public) that doesn’t MAKE movies, shouldn’t be allowed to criticise what is clearly a BS-flick, with a pulp director, a B-actor and a newbie-scriptwriter who didn’t know any better than to write a sequel from an 80ties acion movie. There is no excuse possible on this one.

Tell you what, if I am wrong, I will post on this blog a review about the lost art of good sequels and praise Mr. Chapman for his great effort. But so far, there’s little hope for Road House 2.

    ;)

  5. Don’t be sorry Darko, I’m nothing to do with the movie. However I think you’re being a bit pointed and harsh against the guys there. They have movies being made, and at least Ziehl has Directed movies whatever they are.

Me, I’ve done nothing in comparison, so I afford them some respect.

I agree on the Swayze front though, I think he should be in it (and you should check out the other post links when we give them, they are for a reason, like showing you I agree!) and I don’t think it’s going to be anywhere near as good without him. Could be wrong of course, but we shall see.

  6. I totally agree, this sequel will be a straight tot DVD flick. Personally I think Swayze didn’t WANT to do this sequel because of the people involved in the project. Too old my ass. I√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve seen great Asian flicks with 80year old kung fu masters kick the ass of a truckload of masked warriors too stupid to know better.

Who the hell is Miles Chapman??? What original script did he wrote? What has he done in the film business? So far he is trying to make it with a sequel of a classic Hollywood actionflick with an original script that was probably not even 20 pages long. How creative is that? I’ve got some advice for Chapman. Stop wasting our time and write some original content next time, instead of trying to be recognized with the success of others.

Who the hell is Scott Ziehl??? Director of tv-movies like Cruel Intentions 3, Earth vs. the Spider??? The rating of all his dreadfull movies balances between 2/10 and 6/10. Fantastic !!! Just what this sequel needed, a piss poor director. This movie would probably have more sex-appeal if Uwe Boll was directing.

Who the hell is Johnathon Schaech ??? Oh, I remember, this is the guy who has been piling shit since 1993. What was HIS last movie? 8MM 2 ! Yeah right, another straight to DVD flick with exactly the same ingredients as Road House 2. These movies should have never been made by third-rate moviemakers. It’s pathetic and also very typical !

    Sorry Richard, but this stinks.

  7. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAH I hope so Sealey.

It is bullshit that swayze is not in the film. Pure bullshit.

They are coming out and kissing ass because they know that it was a huge mistake. Having Dalton’s nephew without Dalton – bullshit.

Even if he gets a short cameo I will be pissed. This is cockshit.
