Nick Gillard To Direct Poker Night

Looks like Nick Gillard is making the jump from stunts to the director’s chair. For those of you who have never watched a Star Wars DVD Special Features segment, Nick Gillard is the man behind all the stunts and fight choreography in the Star Wars prequels (maybe the strongest element of the films asides from the visual effects).

Cinema Confidential is reporting that Nick has been handed the directoral reigns for Poker Night, a film in which he is teaming up yet again with Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson. Here’s a quick synopsis of the project:

The film follows a rookie detective (Christensen) who wakes up tied to a chair in a filthy basement. He must figure out why he is there while enduring physical and mental torture.

Sounds good to me. If Gillard is directing it, then I expect Poker Night will probably have it’s share of big fights and action too. Or maybe I’m just looking too far ahead. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do with this film.
