The Suffering another game adaptation

Hold your horses for a moment and read on, for this might not be just your average adaptation, and let’s face it to date they’ve not been good have they? Coming Soon bring us the news that the videogame The Suffering has had the movie rights purchased by MTV Films, a good sign perhaps?

MTV is working with Stan Winston and Brian Gilbert from Stan Winston Productions and Jason Lust and Rick Jacobs from Circle of Confusion on development of The Suffering as a feature project.

The story takes place on an island off the cost of Maryland which was once an Asylum, then used by the Army during World War II, and now a Penetentiary that holds the State executions. It’s old, the inmates are pretty wild and riot regularly, and there are some more than mysterious goings on.

From what I’ve seen it’s much like Resident Evil style, where everything starts going quite odd and you’re attacked by bizarre creatures in a slightly odd reality.

Are you a player, can you shed more light on the story without spoilers? What are your views on the adaptation, a good choice of source material and is the fact that MTV and Stan Winston are involved a good sign?

  1. Oh really?

To the first guy:I have beaten it,it is really creepy but really awsome once you pick up da Thompson Machine gun and blast them to kingdom come!>:)

I also beat The Suffering 2,which is even more awsome in action but is not as scary as the last, that is,unless a giant monster on top of you trying to eat off your head is scary.Or,when your cornered and only have one shot left, yeah, then it is scary.

To second guy:I am not with you,you are obviously an idiot.Good horror movies are always wanted, and people who don’t play games might want to see this kind of original creative horror thing, without having to play a game or have any of that stuff.I mean, think about it,all the horror movies out today suck, and people worship them as if thhey are scary…I say bull and wish instead of coming out with crappy horror cliches like Resident Evil and all the other Zombie,Ghost, and demon crap, they would actually release The Suffering to put all of them down to ashes. This would be much scarier, interesting, and above all an actually good movie. It may not be as scary as the game, seeing as in the game you’re in the action, but if they include all scenes, make it just as bloody, and make him go on the good path, seeing as the main guy is always good in most horror movies and the evil guys aren’t,it will be a hit no doubt. They will also need to include 100% of the intensity of the game so the crowd will be jumping outta their seats,if ya know what I mean.Overall,if all this is actually included, this may be the best horror flick of the millenium and NO ONE will be able to compete,so don’t be an idiot and try to start some clan that will try to discourage them and take heed of all I have said, cause believe me,if this is included, you won’t be disappointed.

  2. FUCK MTV!!!

If they make The Suffering Ive lost all respect for everything creative in the world..look Mtv ruined music, now there gonna ruin the best game on earth ever made..I boycott Mtv making this movie whos with me??

  3. Yeah, I’ve played the game for a about an hour. It was too creepy for me and couldn’t play it anymore. I haven’t even finished doom 3.

It starts in a prison. The hero is murderer, having murdered his wife and child, but players get the feeling that something is not right. It might be a set up, or he might be possessed, or his family might have been possessed. All these are my speculations. I haven’t beat the game you see.

So, there is a quake, the ground actually moves and prizon tilts somehow. Some cells open and our hero escapes. His cellmates are dead either from the debris, or from some strange creatures (their design is very original). Guards are decapited or amputated, or generaly dead, bodies are everywhere. Well, that’s pretty much what I got out of half an hour of gameplay.
