Wolverine movie gets underway

WolverineClose.jpgThe spin-off movie from the X-Men series for the Wolverine character has just gained a production deal, from Comic Book Movie:

Variety reports that Seed Productions, the newly named producing venture headed by Hugh Jackman and John Palermo has struck a new deal with 20th Century Fox. Seed Productions will be steering a David Benioff-scripted spinoff film based on the popular X-Men character of Wolverine.

Jackman and Palermo will produce Wolverine with Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel’s Avi Arad.

It’ll be interesting to see how this movie takes Wolverine, and whether it is a future episode in his life, or his past. His creation is a story dying to be told, much like the Magneto spin off which is in writing. What are your opinions? Which way would you like the story to go?

  1. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME OF HIS PAST PORTRAYED IN TRUE WOLVERINE STYLE WITHOUT ALL THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CRAP IN X 1 N 2.

HE IS THE BEST AT WAS HE DOES AND IT ISNT BABYSITTING OR MAKING POPCORN, SOMETHING LIKE HIS CANADIAN MILITARY BACKGROUND WOULD BE GREAT!

  2. Remember in the cartoon series, they show Logan working with Captain America before he turn into Wolverine. That will be nice to see Captain America in that movie.

  3. I would like to see wolverine portrayed as a humnaitarian working in the peace corps feeding starving children. It would be nice to see Woverine’s softer side show through.

  4. I think this could be a great movie but as much as I want to know about wolverines entire beggining I just hope they dont totally reveal everything one of the great things about wolverine is that he is such a mystery and the writer always leaves a large part to the imagination.

  5. I definitely would like to see his past not some made-up future. His involvement in WWII, even rescuing a child-aged Magento, and his work with Weapon X would be awesome material.

  6. I would like to see Wolverine treated with respect. PG13 Wolverine simply can’t cut it and the character has essentially been castrated to make him palatable for a younger audience although we did catch a glimpse of his true nature when he sliced and diced those commando creeps in X2. The guy is a killer, a Samurai warrior who will do whatever it takes to get the job done. His nifty byline is – I’m the best there is at what I do but what I do isn’t very nice; they should run with that. X1 and X2 Wolverine is a wuss. We need to see his grittier, don’t fuck with me or I’ll gut you side. Apparently, if this movie does get made, Jackman has promised to portray Wolverine as he is meant to be. Amen to that.

  7. I would like to see a story pre X-men, when Logan was in Canada and hanging out with Pug and Sasquatch. That would be a good story, showing how Wolverine howned his figting skills and senses and dealing wiith his amneshia.
