Fincher’s Zodiac gains Robert Downey

DavidFincher.jpgDavid Fincher‘s Zodiac project has definitely been a long wait, but things seem to be moving in the right direction with news from Reuters through Yahoo of some castings:

Mark Ruffalo is in negotiations and Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey have signed on to “Seven” director David Fincher’s long-gestating thriller “Zodiac.”

Gyllenhaal will play Robert Graysmith, the journalist and author of the two books, “Zodiac” and “Zodiac Unmasked,” upon which the film is based. Downey will play fellow reporter Paul Avery, and Ruffalo would play the San Francisco homicide inspector in charge of the case.

Jake Gyllenhaal you will most likely know from Donnie Darko and The Day after Tomorrow. With him and Robert Downey Jr on board the talent is certainly looking good for the movie, and the material is perfect. I wonder how long we’re going to have to wait for some movement on this.

It’s fantastic to see Downey with some great roles on the go, I really hope we don’t see his talent wasted again.

  1. Jake Gyllenhaal is so good, the kid has a lot of potential. He performed alongside Hayden Christensen in that Kenneth Lonergan play at the West End in 2002 and he was absolutely fantastic. It was fun watching the two together.

No problems at all with the casting of Ruffalo and Downey Jr.

    It’s raining men!!! :-)

  2. Disappointed in all 3 choices. Jake G is ok I guess, I love Donnie Darko. I’m tired of hearing about how great Downey Jr is, I don’t see it. Maybe I just haven’t seen one of his better performences. Actually I did like him in Weird Science, HAHAHA. Ruffalo has been average in a couple of great films-Eternal Sunshine and Collateral. We won’t talk about 13 Going On 30. I’m really pulling for Fincher with this one but so far he is not impressing me.
