Hey Look! Hero’s Getting Screwed Over Again!

Don’t know if this is also the case in the ol’ U.S. of A. but here in Canada it looks as though Hero’s release date is on the move yet again … an observent Movie Blog reader spotted that the Canadian movie showtimes site Tribute had removed the film from their ‘Coming Soon’ list and when he emailed them to find out why, this is what they said:

“Alliance Atlantis, the Canadian distributor, keeps changing the release
date. As of right now, it has an unspecified summer release date — it is
NOT coming out August 20 at the moment.

It is not in our calendar of coming soon movies because it’s listed as
Summer 2004 (ie. no specific date).”

This is just getting silly, people. Thanks to Peter for the heads up.

****UPDATED****

Word just came that Alliance has set a Canadian release date of August 27th. So we’ll be a week behind the US.

  1. Canada’s not behind the U.S. I don’t know when it’s going to be released here (I live in Tennessee). It was supposed to be yesterday, but it didn’t open, and now they say maybe the 27th. I don’t get it–I’ve been waiting for this film ever since I saw the trailer last winter (only once–they pulled that pretty quick, too).

  2. I’ll make a new post out of this as soon as I can get it confirmed and turn up a few more details but it looks as though the uncut version of Hero is finally hitting DVD in mainland China on July 16th. It’s been available on EVD – a China only format – for a good while now, but this’ll be the first DVD edition of the extended cut anywhere. No word yet on availablity or subtitles, but you can bet subbed boot copies will turn up a week or so after the originals if they’re foolish enough not to subtitle it … ah, what the hell, I’ll just go ahead and make a full post now …
