Okay sure, it’s a big corporate attention grabber so people will flood the store to buy the DVD once the movie is finished, but it’s still a great movie, and it’s still on a big screen, and it’s free.
At 8pm on the 24th of May (the eve of the Great DVD Release day) [A really big company] (hey, I’m not gonna advertise for them) is screening “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” at the large (ugly and horribly designed) so-called “Dundas Square” in downtown Toronto. There’s room enough for thousands, so if you’re in downtown Toronto and want to see the 3rd chapter of LOTR on a big screen one last time, now’s your chance and it won’t cost you anything. – And you can run across the road when it’s done and buy the DVD – which is the whole reason [the really big company] is screening this in the first place. — So how about NOT buying one and sticking it to The Man in the process?
Yes, that’s right, DON’T buy the DVD: wait for box-sets young grasshopper. – Oh, you can wait — Don’t say you don’t know how to download it until then you slimy weasel….
Wow.. that’s neat – We probably would’ve wanted to check that out if we hadn’t obtained our dvd through the distributors and effects companies in LA over a month and a half ago.. Wheeeee!!!
MUahaha. I bought my copy of LOTR the return of the king on May 15th!!! I live on an island closeby Florida……but I was SHOCKED. My little mizzly island is selling the DVD already (before America)…..legally!! no cheap version. the real shit ……with an extra feature disc. AWESOME HEh?
This is following the exact same release pattern as the other films … the two disc will have the theatrical cut on one disc and a flurry of EPK and other readily available bonus materials on disc two. The four disc set will contain the extra footage (don’t hold your breath for the scouring of the shire … aint gonna happen … Sauruman gets killed off well before he ever gets there to screw it up) and the monstrous made just for this release bonuses … I’m holding out for the big one …
I believe we know for sure that the scene at Isengard won’t be in this theatrical release set. But it will be in the Special Ed for sure. I haven’t heard anything about the scouring of the shire. I don’t think it’s going to be there. Even then RoTK is the most complete of the three compared to the books.
i haven’t seen anything on the specs yet, but this looks like it’ll be a double disc release. will it contain the extra footage?!? i want to see sauromon get his and the shire burnt down – woo hoo!
