Scary Movie 3 is just a scary waste of time

I decided to take a break from studying for my Estates Law exam tomorrow morning and run out to catch a flick. We decided to take in Scary Movie 3. Wow. What a total and utter waste of my time. I don’t know why I even gave this one a chance. Don’t get me wrong, there are a number of moments in the film that made me laugh out loud. But those moments were few and far between. Most of the time the gags could be seen coming from a million miles away, or they were carried on WAAAAYYY too long and ruined the joke.

In a spoof comedy you don’t worry about the acting, direction, special effect, plot or any other important feature in a real movie√¢‚Ǩ¬¶ but it absolutely MUST be funny. Overall, Scary Movie 3 isn’t. After the movie was thankfully over I mentioned that if they took all the funny parts and made it into a half hour tv special it would have been great. Like I said, there were some hilarious moments√¢‚Ǩ¬¶ but nowhere near enough of them to keep me interested, and barely enough of them to keep me awake.

So use your money to go catch Kill Bill (a fantastic flick in my opinion) again.

  1. Well i’m lucky enough to not have seen this as scary movie 1 & 2 was just sad immature humour carried too far until it wasn’t funny. Spend your money on Kill Bill or Matrix revolutions instead.

  2. You say that as if owning “Cool as Ice” was a bad thing. When Vanilla Ice said the line “Drop the zero and get with the hero” it was sheer movie magic. Unconscious self-parody. Beautiful

  3. I’ve seen both Scary Movie 3 and Kill Bill. I don’t understand how anyone can like an EHBS
(Excessive Hollywood Bull Shit) film. Kill Bill was the WORSE movie I have ever seen; I kept thinking when is it
    going to end!

On the other hand Scary Movie 3 was hilarious from beginning to end! I saw it opening night and the theater was
jammed packed. Everyone was crying from laughter and not one person that night, had any negative things to say
    about the film.

Just posting my rant about your review! :P

  4. Yeah, I was actually quite disappointed in John for thinking that this might be worth the time and money… Shame on you John. Shame. I hope you learn your lesson this time!

  5. The tag line for the original Scary Movie was “No Mercy. No Shame. No Sequel.”.

Well, they lied about the Sequel part, but wow, are they ever fulfilling the “no mercy” part — as Part 4 is already tabled. Disturbing. People always wonder why so many garbage movies get made — the answer’s pretty simple — because people go see them – in SPADES. I weep for our sad, little bad-movie fixation.
